The Cascade Medical Team's History

Originated in Oregon in 2001-02, the Cascade Medical Team  was formed by a group of local  healthcare providers. The first mission occurred in 2002 and has been providing free healthcare to the indigenous population of Guatemala ever since.  Our parent organization is HELPS International and we are just one of the 11-12 medical teams dispatched on an annual basis.  HELPS considers your personal safety to be the number one issue while on a medical mission and secondly that you have a rewarding experience. We welcome volunteers from all over the United States and other foreign countries to participate on the team and share in this life changing experience.

Prior missions:

  • 2002  Playa Grande
  • 2003 Barríllas
  • 2004 Sololá (Government hospital)
